Emma J. Joels, a London native, attended University College London receiving a BSc in Architecture before earning her Juris Doctor degree from Pace University Law School in New York in 1992. Prior to moving to Sarasota in the summer of 1994, Ms. Joels worked for an eminent entertainment attorney in Manhattan, representing high profile clients in the theatrical and movie industries. Commencing in 2000, Ms. Joels headed up the family law practice at the law firm of Abel Band.
Ms. Joels serves on the board of directors for Sarasota County Teen Court where she also volunteers as a Teen Court judge, the board of directors for Temple Beth Sholom, the board of directors for Sarasota Architectural Foundation, is on the National Board of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, where she chairs the Grants Committee, and serves on their Board of Governors. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut in addition to Florida.
