Biography
Mr. Christian is an appellate attorney within the Firm and assists other attorneys with major trial motions and litigation.
Ben was born and raised in Trumbull, Connecticut. His undergraduate degree is from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. After working as a paralegal for immigration firms in New York and Connecticut, Ben pursued a law degree, graduating with Honors from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. While at GW, Mr. Christian was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Public Contracts Law Journal. He also performed an entire year of clinical practice with Law Students In Court, representing indigent defendants before the criminal courts in the District of Columbia.
After law school, Ben pursued another dream of his and joined the United States Army where he served on Active Duty for four years. Stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Ben served first as a Legal Assistance attorney – helping more than 600 clients with estate planning and more than 1000 other clients with other various civil issues. Ben deployed to Kuwait and Iraq as a Fiscal Law Attorney where he helped commands in Iraq and Syria navigate the intricacies of U.S. monetary law and policy. Upon return to Fort Bragg, Ben was cross sworn as a Special Assistant United States Attorney tasked with prosecuting civilian criminal conduct that occurred within the federal jurisdiction of the base. Ben handled hundreds of misdemeanors and dozens of felonies in this position before being quickly promoted to the senior SAUSA slot as the Chief of Federal Litigation. Lastly, Mr. Christian served as a legal advisor to the Special Operations Aviation Command.
Ben decided to leave Active Duty to move to Sarasota with his wife, Brenna. Taking a job as an appellate attorney in Sarasota, Ben quickly learned to navigate appeals in complex practice areas including Vaccine litigation, Indian Law, consumer protection, and medical device litigation. Ben has had arguments before Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal as well as federal courts. Ben has also developed experience working with trial attorneys on major motions and hearings and has argued dispositive motions before trial judges in Florida. Mr. Christian is proud to continue his service with the Army, remaining a Judge Advocate in the Army Reserve.
Mr. Christian is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the District of Columbia, and before the Ninth Circuit, Fifth Circuit, Federal Circuit and Court of Federal Claims. He is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association. When not hard at work, Ben enjoys spending time with his family (ideally outdoors) and volunteering at local animal shelters.
